Dr Holland is an aquatic ecotoxicologist/ecologist. Dr Holland's research spans the disciplines of environmental chemistry, biology, ecology and biochemistry to assess the effect changes in water quality have on aquatic ecosystems and their biota. Her research focuses on understanding the bioavailability and toxicity of contaminants to biota from microbes through to fish, the mechanisms behind the observed toxicity, the effect of environmental stressors and the role of dissolved organic matter in aquatic ecosystems. Dr Holland's research goes towards improving the conservation and management of aquatic ecosystems through development of water quality guidelines and management plans.
