BIO

With a background in fine arts and cultural event management, I have a keen interest in the ways in which material and immaterial culture are produced, embodied, and performed – and how these play out through narrative, story-telling, and placemaking.

My thesis for the MA by Research explored narratives of homemaking in contemporary Singapore. Focusing on the lived experiences of women, the thesis adopted a conceptual framework combining narrative, phenomenology, and feminism. The research findings underscore home as a site of female agency and empowerment and present both the home and the body as generative sites of sensory, kinetic, somatic and affective experiences.

My previous publication, Beyond Needle and Thread: Communicating and Contesting Identity in Haute Couture, (co-authored with Araujo) explores issues of female creativity and contested notions of identity within the space of haute couture.
