BIO

I am an applied economist whose research focuses on inequality, opportunity and economic behaviour across the economics of education, household finance, gambling and public health. My work examines how socioeconomic conditions shape educational and financial decisions, and how policy frameworks can enhance equity and reduce harm. I have published in leading economics journals such as European Economic Review, Journal of Banking and Finance, Oxford Bulletin of Economics and Statistics, Economica, Economic Record and Economics of Education Review, and my research has informed national and international initiatives, including the UCL–Stone Centre CORE Economics project.

My research has attracted $1.66 million in competitive external funding from government, industry and ARC sources, with recent projects commissioned by the Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation, the Victorian Department of Justice and Community Safety, and the National Centre for Student Equity in Higher Education (NCSEHE). My applied research has influenced higher‑education admissions practice and data collection, gambling‑harm‑reduction frameworks, and safety initiatives within the sports sector. This work has been recognised with an LBS Research Impact Award.

Within La Trobe, I provide strategic leadership as Economics Discipline Lead, contributing to curriculum renewal, research‑performance capability building, and School‑level governance through Academic Board and the Promotions Committee. Nationally, I co‑founded and co‑curate the Economic Society of Australia’s National Economic Panel and serve on the ESA (Vic Branch) Council. I also served as an Advisory Board Member for the NCSEHE, contributing to national student‑equity research and policy.

My teaching focuses on applied microeconomics and public policy, and my contributions to learning and teaching have been recognised through School and Vice‑Chancellor’s Education Awards.
