Dr. Bernardo López Marín is a Post-doctoral Researcher currently working on the project ‘Contesting Migration’ at Durham University UK. Bernardo has been researching on topics of migration for over a decade, focusing on social and political anthropology. He received a PhD from La Trobe University Australia, presenting a comparative study about the subjective experience and the development of emotions, feelings and sentiments of people on a journey in transit through Mexico and Morocco.
Bernardo completed a MSc. in Social Anthropology at the National School of Anthropology and History (ENAH) in Mexico City. His research centered on irregularized migration through Mexico and migrants’ mobility strategies as a way of contesting and resisting border regimes. Bernardo was awarded a BA. in Native American Indian Languages and Cultures at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark.
His postgraduate research and current interests examine and discusse topics about unauthorized and forced migration, human displacement, border regimes, social exclusion, violence, postcolonial studies, State-Society relations, and collective memory.
Bernardo has obtained various prizes and awards, disseminated his research in more than 50 academic forums and published in several academic journals.
