BIO
Travers Eira has spent over 20 years working with Aboriginal people reviving their languages. For 12 of those years they were the linguist at the Victorian Aboriginal Corporation for Languages. Travers’ publishing output is mostly concerned with professional practice and research methodologies that support self-determination. Travers is the co-researcher on 5 language maintenance or revival dictionaries and the co-writer of curriculum for reviving Aboriginal languages at primary school and TAFE levels. Travers holds degrees in music as well as linguistics. They are an established composer, play gamelan and viola, and in their spare time garden at Ceres Environmental Park.
