BIO
Christina is a Senior Research Fellow at the Global Health and Equity Development Hub at the Violet Vines Marshman Centre for Rural health Research, La Trobe Rural Health School. With expertise in both quantitative and qualitative research methods, her research interest is in improving health equity for disadvantaged populations.
Using the Ophelia (Optimising Health Literacy and Access) process, she is dedicated to applying co-design and equity-driven approach to support underprivileged populations. Her research projects include working with individuals experiencing mental health issues, people from regional and rural communities, people living in social housing, migrant populations and people in prison.
She was a co-author of the World Health Organization’s 2022 report, Health Literacy Development for the Prevention and Control of Noncommunicable Diseases, which was recognised as a Global Public Health Good. She has advised the New Zealand Ministry of Health on the New Zealand Health Literacy Survey (2021–2022), by supporting data interpretation to provide policy insights. She has also provided training to researchers both in Australia and internationally, including as an advisor to the recent European Union’s 'Joint Action on Cardiovascular Disease and Diabetes' program.
Christina’s work reflects a deep commitment to health equity and evidence-based public health, with the aspiration to generate meaningful health outcomes for disadvantaged communities both locally and globally.
