Caroline Wallace is an art historian focused on museum studies and American cultural history. Her book, The Right to the Museum: Race, Gender and Power in New York City's Art Museums (2026, Bloomsbury), reveals the role of Black, Puerto Rican and feminist artists in challenging the social function of art institutions and creating new models of museums. Previous publications have focused on the history of counter exhibitions as protests of museums; feminist artist activism and public monuments; and contemporary craft and American politics. 

Caroline is coordinator of the Bachelor of Visual Arts and coordinator of the Visual Cultures major in the Bachelor of Visual Arts. She welcomes prospective postgraduate students in both practice led and traditional research.
