Carolyn Bell is a teaching-focused Lecturer in Microbiology in the School of Agriculture, Biomedicine and Environment at La Trobe University and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). She teaches across first, second, and third year levels, coordinating the first-year subject Infections, Pandemics and Epidemics (MIC1IPE) and contributing to the second-year subject Introduction to the World of Microbiology (MIC2IWM) and the third-year subject Medical Virology: Pathogenesis and Disease (MIC3MPD).
Carolyn has a strong commitment to active and inclusive learning, designing teaching experiences that engage students and foster participation across blended, online, and StudyFlex delivery modes. She uses real-time anonymous polling to gauge student understanding and tailor her teaching to the needs of the whole cohort, and is committed to lowering barriers to participation so that all students feel supported to engage.
