BIO
Dr. Chris Lynch is an Adjunct Research Fellow at La Trobe University’s School of Psychology and Public Health and a Research Fellow at the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute. His research focuses on tackling two of the world’s most pressing health challenges—diabetes and cardiovascular disease—by developing innovative, digitally supported solutions that enhance self-management, prevent complications, and improve long-term health outcomes.
Dr. Lynch specialises in chronic disease management and the integration of eHealth technologies to empower individuals in navigating their health. His work leverages digital tools to support symptom monitoring, medication taking, and sustainable behaviour change, whether through self-management strategies or guided professional support. A key area of his research is the co-design of technology-enabled ecosystems, which, when embedded within healthcare services, provide personalised, scalable solutions for individuals living with diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
With support from the Danish Diabetes and Endocrinology Academy and the Steno Diabetes Centre, Copenhagen, Dr. Lynch is advancing digital social prescribing—a transformative approach that connects individuals to non-medical community resources through digital referral pathways. By bridging the gap between clinical care and community-based support, his research is driving more holistic, person-centred diabetes care and improving health outcomes for people with diabetes and other complex chronic conditions in Australia and Denmark.
Beyond research, Dr. Lynch is deeply committed to education and mentorship. He actively supports graduate researchers, fostering a research culture that prioritises both candidate experience and academic success. With an extensive background in Sport and Exercise Science, he continues to contribute as an educator in the Master of Cancer Sciences at the University of Melbourne.
