Cheelim is a senior lecturer at the School of Nursing and Midwifery at La Trobe University. He graduated with distinction in his Master of Nurse Practitioner program in 2023, during which he led an innovative ECMO program as the Nurse Practitioner. Cheelim is also an accredited cardiac sonographer, having graduated with a Distinction in Cardiac Ultrasound from the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) in 2020. Cheelim has recently expanded his scope of practice to include heart failure, where he combines his nursing and echocardiography skills to guide the titration of medications. Cheelim reviews for the Sonography Journal and serves on both the Australian Sonographer Association’s Cardiac SIG and the ANZICS Health Economics committee, where he co-authored economic costing guidelines for RCTs and ICU trials.  He is currently pursuing his PhD, which he expects to complete in 2028.
