Alicia qualified as an occupational therapist in 2001, and has worked since in public and private mental health services, and in teaching roles. Her passion for addressing social determinants of well being led her return to studies in community development and work in field of service user participation and peer support research. She is currently undertaking doctoral studies exploring the sharing of lived experience by mental health professionals in the workplace. She also works as a research assistant on projects that capture service users' experiences of care for the purpose of service improvement.
