Andrea Bramley Lecturer, Dietetics & Nutrition

Andrea is an academic and Accredited Practising Dietitian with extensive experience in clinical dietetics, private practice and the health industry.

Andrea is currently acting discipline lead for Dietetics and Human Nutrition, Individual Case Management Domain leader and co-ordinates the undergraduate and postgraduate professional Dietetics degrees. She co-ordinates final year theory and clinical placement Dietetic subjects and has a strong research interest in Dietetic training, the development of Dietetic Competencies and the use of professional portfolios. Andrea has teaching experience in the University context as well as extensive experience as a clinical educator and is an active member of the DAA Community of Practice of Dietetic educators.

In addition to her academic role, Andrea is a practicing senior clinician working in Bariatric Nutrition and Diabetes in the department of Diabetes and Endocrinology at Royal Melbourne Hospital. Andrea is a regular contributor to interprofessional Diabetes education. Andrea has extensive clinical experience including nutrition support, gastroenterology, intensive care and aged care nutrition including contribution to the profession as past Convenor of the Victorian Branch of the DAA Nutrition Support Special Interest Group. Andrea has additional leadership and project management experience in nutrition screening and led the introduction of nutrition screening in Melbourne Health and Aged Care Mental Health.

Andrea's current research interests include the development and use of novel methods to support Dietetic competency development, Mediterranean Diet in clinical practice, Type 1 Diabetes and Eating Disorders and Obesity.
