Dr Anita Zacharias Lecturer, Pharmacy & Biomedical Sci

Anita is an anatomist, working in the department of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences at Bendigo. Her specializations include gross anatomy, histology and embryology.

Anita teaches into various courses that have Anatomy as a core subject and is also the subject coordinator for DEN1DSB (Anatomy for 1st year dentistry students) and HBS2ANS (Anatomy for second year speech and audiology students). She is also the main prosector at the Bendigo campus.

Anita's research has mainly involved analysis of gluteal muscle structure and function in people with hip osteoarthritis using intramuscular electromyography and magnetic resonance imaging techniques. She is currently involved in a project that aims to identify the effectiveness of a targeted gluteal muscle strengthening rehabilitation program in improving patient outcomes in people with hip osteoarthritis.
