Dr Bandita Mainali Lecturer, Hydraulics and Water Res. Eng., Engineering

Dr Bandita Mainali is a Lecturer in Civil Engineering Department at La Trobe University since 2013. She has been teaching across a broad range of subjects related to Water Resources and Environmental Engineering. Previously, she has worked in the position of lecturer in Civil Engineering Department at Tribhuwan University, Nepal from 2002 to 2007.

She completed a PhD in Environmental Engineering from University of Technology Sydney in the year 2013 under an APA scholarship. Prior to that, she has completed a Masters degree of Water Resources Management with distinction from Leuphana University, Germany under a DAAD scholarship and Bachelor of Civil Engineering from Tribhuwan University, Nepal.

She has more than 10 years of industrial and academic experience in civil and environmental engineering fields. Her expertise and practical experiences cover the areas of hydrology and hydraulics/environmental hydraulics which includes hydraulic modelling using software such as MUSIC, RORB, HECRAS, environmental engineering, water and wastewater engineering such as membrane technologies, advanced biological wastewater treatment technologies. Her research interest is on innovative water and wastewater treatment and reuse technologies. Investigating community perception on alternative water sources and community education on environmental issues are part of her research.

Her current research focus is on eco-geology, solid waste management, site wastewater management in rural Australia and hybrid water supply systems in Australian cities. Within a short span of her research career, she has several publications in peer reviewed SCI Journals which are regularly being cited. Curently, she is supervising two HDR students.
