Dr Biplob Pramanik Lecturer in Engineering, Engineering

Dr Biplob Pramanik is currently a Lecturer in Water Engineering at LaTrobe University. Biplob obtained his PhD from RMIT University, Australia in January, 2016. He completed his Master’s degree in Water Resources and Environmental Engineering from the Department of Civil and Structural Engineering of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and BSc in Civil Engineering from Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology, Bangladesh.

Dr Biplob has contributed significantly in the area of Water Science & Technology through innovative research activities. To date, he has published more than 45 scholarly articles including 30 articles in peer reviewed journals which have been highly cited. Most of his publications have been in the highly ranked academic journals including Water Research, Journal of Membrane Science, Bioresource Technology, Desalination, International Biodeterioration & Biodegradation, Environmental Technology and Environmental Science: Water Research Technology. He has also presented his research outcomes at several conferences (international & national), seminars and workshops.

A number of prestigious research awards have recognised Dr Biplob’s contribution to this field. Examples include Vice-Chancellor Postdoctoral Research Fellowship from University of Wollongong (2017 ); Top HDR Publication Award among 160 HDR students (2015), and first runner-up HDR Publication Award among 145 HDR students (2014) in the School of Civil, Environmental and Chemical Engineering, RMIT University; along with Best Poster Presentation Awards at International Conferences. In addition, he has received several competitive internal and external grants while conducting PhD research at RMIT University.

Since 2008, Biplob has completed a range of projects from fundamental discovery to pilot scale demonstration. Currently Biplob’s research focuses on the development of a technology platform for simultaneous recovery of water, energy and resources from wastewater and brine solution.
