Dr Rae Walker Emeritus Professor, Public Health

Rae has a formal background in nutrition, education and social sciences and has a long involvement in health promotion in Australia and the Middle East. Her research has focused on the organisational and institutional variables that help people to act on issues influencing health. This has included studies of partnerships between health services, trust in development of inter-agency work, time as a variable in service delivery systems, violence prevention in local communities, climate change adaptation by community based health and social service agencies, for example. Her work in climate change adaptation has deepened our social understanding of climate change issues in ways that support community level organisations to act appropriately.
