Dr Catherine Egan Academic, History

Dr Catherine Egan's research explores François-Hubert Drouais’s oeuvre, his studio, the teachings of the Académie royale de peinture et de sculpture, the genre of portraiture in eighteenth-century France, the iconography of games, and the socio-cultural history of the concept of decorum.

Catherine’s multifarious roles in academia have included sessional lecturer, moderator, exam writer, proof-reader, academic skills adviser and unit coordinator in undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the history of ideas, art history, and occupational health and safety.

Catherine is happy to offer assistance or advice on research projects in Art History & Theory, the 18th century, the concept of Decorum, and the History of Ideas.
