Carolyn is a teaching-focussed lecturer in microbiology in the School of Life Sciences. Carolyn coordinates and teaches into the laboratory classes for the third year microbiology subjects Advanced Medical & Veterinary Microbiology and Advanced Microbiology. She also lectures into first year and second year microbiology subjects, and is the subject coordinator for Advanced Microbiology and Topics in Infectious Disease. Carolyn has an interest in the use of innovative technologies in teaching, student engagement in group work, and curriculum development.
Carolyn undertakes research in the areas of Environmental microbiology and Microbial genetics. She also consults in industrial microbial projects.
