Dr Connie Darmanin Research Fellow (X-ray crystallography), Physics

I lead a team which are transdisciplinary in their approach.

Current activities in my group involve developments in serial crystallography at synchrotrons and X-ray Free Electron Laser (XFEL) facilities which involve a number of experimental physics scientists. Our research area focuses time resolved crystallography and ith the new developments in XFELs we are now able to captured data at very fast time scales allowing us to see chemical reactions take place in real time. This result in generating molecular movies of proteins.

Other interests in my group include understanding the chemistry and biology involved Lipid cubic phase crystallisation with the focus of crystallising G protein coupled receptors for structure determination.
