Dr Clare D'Souza Professor Marketing, Entrepreneurship Innovation & Marketing

Clare D’Souza comes from a multi-disciplinary background and has been an academic for over ten years. She has taught across the Bundoora and Shepparton campuses in an extensive range of subjects, such as Entrepreneurship, Retail Management, Sales and Selling Management, Marketing Strategy, Marketing Principles, Consumer Behaviour, International Marketing, Marketing for Sustainability and Social and Environmental Marketing. She has also taught in several countries of Asia and Europe. Apart from her research and teaching activities, Clare is also involved in postgraduate and honours student supervision and program curriculum development. Prior to joining academia, Clare has held executive positions overseas in the private sector. Her research has been presented at international conferences in UK, Europe and America. She has also published in international journals and co-authored three text books and a research monograph. She has been a strategic consultant for many international organizations and has advised private and government agencies in both Australia and overseas. In 2012, she was awarded the OLT National Citations for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning by the Federal government. In 2016, she was recognised as a finalist by the UNITED NATIONS (Vic) for high quality research with impact/teaching and curriculum design in the area of Sustainability.

She been successful in attracting substantial grant/consultancy funding from a variety of different sources through regional, national and international linkages. Since 2007, she has 18 projects funded through grants/consultancies and this has been consistent. She has a research appointment at the Governance, Marketing and Sustainability Research Centre for the University of the Basque Country (Spain). She also has other international linkages through research with researchers from Malaysia, China, Canada, India and Portugal. She is able to lead and sustain research collaborations and partnerships, which have demonstrable positive outcome in terms of publications and industry collaboration.

She has over 120+ publications are original and distinctive in the way they combine ideas from sustainability, marketing and other significant managerial areas in industry. Most of these publications have received international recognition for leadership in sustainability. As of 2017 she has 46 refereed journal publications (DEST category1 articles), most of which I am the lead author, 9 book chapters, 62 refereed conference papers, 1 co-edited Research Monograph, 3 Text Books, and 8 other teaching and professional publications.

She has a proven track record of successful HDR supervision for both local and international students. Since joining La Trobe University, She has had 25 Honours completions, 15 PhD completions , 4 DBAs (Doctor of Business Administration) and 2 Master’s by research.
