Professor Craig Patch Adjunct Professor, Off Allied Hlth,Human Svc&Sport

Professor Craig Patch is a nutrition innovator with over 20 years experience dedicated to improving human health and wellness. He has been instrumental in the formation of 5 start up companies in the area of social enterprise, nutrition, biotechnology and pharmaceuticals. He is currently Co-Founder & CEO of two start up ventures; Vernx Biotechnology which is developing novel fatty acids for infant gut health and Feedback Nutrition which is a social enterprise. Professor Patch is also a Director of Limos Therapeutics which is a spin out company of La Trobe University developing a novel monoclonal antibody for the treatment of cancer cachexia.

Professor Patch is a accredited practicing dietitian having worked for 15 years as a clinical dietitian and provided clinical lectures as an Honorary Principal Fellow for over 20 years at the University of Wollongong. He research is focussed on nutritional lipids (omega-3 and branched chain fatty acids) in improving premature infant outcomes.

Professor Patch has a significant track record in commercialising novel nutrition ingredients in the complementary medicine, functional food and infant formula markets. Formerly, Dr Patch spent 8 years at Clover Corporation in various innovation and commercial roles and most recently as Chief Innovation Officer. He was responsible for the commercialisation of innovative nutrition research, food science and microencapsulation technology in the area of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. In addition he was responsible for the identification and negotiation of in-licenceing, out-licencing, partnerships and acquisitions. Most notably he was responsible for spinning out Clover’s intellectual property portfolio to form Premneo Pharmaceuticals Pty Ltd where he was the founding VP, Development & Innovation.

He has a PhD in Biomedical Science, a Masters of Business Administration, Graduate Diploma in Nutrition & Dietetics, Bachelor of Applied Science and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of COmpany Directors. Professor Patch has published over 70 peer reviewed articles and is an co-inventor of 6 patent applications held by Clover and Vernx.

In the 90’s he played first grade rugby league for the Toowoomba Clydesdales, East Brisbane Tigers, Illawarra Steelers and Balmain Tigers.
