Tina Fitzpatrick Academic, College Education (ASSC)

Tina Fitzpatrick works both in Mathematics Education (for undergraduate preservice teachers) and Statistics. As a mathematics teacher, her research interests stem primarily from her work with Initial Teacher Education students, and their difficulties and/or anxiety with mathematics. She is particularly interested in the neuroscience associated with teaching and learning mathematics, particulary in changing fixed mindsets to growth mindsets. Tina is currently a graduate researcher focusing on intervention programs and peer mentoring opportunities for preservice teachers, which increase both their mathematical content knowledge and pedagogical content knowledge.
Prior to joining La Trobe University, Tina worked as a secondary school mathematics and science teacher.
