Professor David Edvardsson Professor, Nursing & Midwifery, Nursing

Prof Edvardsson leads and participates in a number of international collaborative studies on the implementation and outcomes of person-centred care and activities from community and residential care innovations, the meaning and impact of caring activities and environments in acute hospital and cancer care, finding benefit in cancer experiences, and the creation and implementation of models of care for older people and people with dementia in various contexts. Edvardsson is a methodological leader in psychometric development and evaluation, quasi-experimental designs, grounded theory and interpretative phenomenological research approaches, as well as in mixed methods design and participatory action research. Prof Edvardsson is the recipient of numerous grants and awards for his research and work in nursing and ageing. He has strong collaborative relationships with Austin Health and the Northern Hospital in Melbourne, aged care interest groups and providers throughout Victoria, Australia, in Sweden, the U.S. and Europe. Edvardsson leads research groups in both Sweden and Australia focusing on the content and comparability of care models and health outcomes for older people and people with dementia across home, community and hospital care contexts.
