Dr Deirdre Fetherstonhaugh Associate Professor, AustCtrEvidBaseAgedCare

Deirdre is the Director of the Australian Centre for Evidence Based Aged Care (ACEBAC) and a Professor at La Trobe University. Her research focuses on: the translation of research evidence into practice; the ethical implications of clinical practice, quality, safety and performance in residential aged care; decision-making for people with chronic conditions such as dementia or renal failure; sexuality and dementia and; clinical risk in aged care. Deirdre’s research is mainly undertaken in residential aged care services with aged care staff, residents and informal carers. Deirdre also develops and delivers education to health professionals and aged care workers. Deirdre publishes journal articles, presents her research at national and international conferences and produces resources for health service staff and consumers. She is a Board Director at Benetas Aged Care Services and a member of their Quality and Compliance Committee. Deirdre is also the Deputy Chair of the La Trobe University Human Ethics Committee.
