Dr Damir Mitric Academic, Engineering

Damir Mitric is a Research Fellow in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences. Prior to that, he was Senior Lecturer in Academic Development at La Trobe University where he provided integrated discipline-specific academic and curriculum development support to help achieve high quality learning outcomes for all students in face-to-face, blended and online modes. He holds a PhD in History and has taught Modern European History for five years before moving to La Trobe International to coordinate the Academic Engagement portfolio. There he developed and delivered projects and programs to help internationalise the curricular experience of students. He is a member of the International Education Association of Australia and convener of the IEAA Teaching and Learning Network. He is fluent in three languages, connected to various international education providers through his teaching and research and generally passionate about supporting staff and students to understand and embrace the complex reality of living in an interconnected 21st century. His current research focuses on post-conflict Bosnia and Herzegovina as experienced through the diasporic lens. His work has been published widely – including academic journals as well as radio, television and traditional media outlets, such as SBS, Fairfax and the Conversation.
