Erika Duan Research Officer, Biochemistry

Dr Erika Duan is a junior postdoctoral fellow from the T cell laboratory (led by Professor Weisan Chen within the NHMRC Influenza research program grant 2014-2019). Graduating from honours through the Department of Medicine (University of Melbourne) in 2008, Erika then completed her PhD on macrophage-based inflammatory signatures in chronic inflammatory lung diseases supervised by Assoc Prof Margaret Hibbs and Prof Gary Anderson. Erika's main field of interest lies in the roles of residential tissue macrophages in modulating lung homeostasis versus acute and chronic inflammatory lung processes. She is also committed to engaging more public awareness of science and scientific research, and is an ongoing committee member for the Day of Immunology public awareness campaign (organised by the Australasian Society of Immunology ASI), a founding general committee member for the LIMS Fellows society and an active contributor to the ASI and LIMS newsletters.
