Elise Foxworth lectures in Japanese language and society. She spent eight years living in Japan, where she lived with three - one Japanese and two Korean - families, for a year with each, in Tokyo, Kawasaki and Osaka respectively. She does research in Japanese studies and post-colonial studies, with a focus on the Japanese literature written by diasporic Korean writers in Japan. She is also engaged in literary translation from Japanese into English. Of late, in a teaching-focused role, she is engaged in research on classroom dynamics and student motivation.
