Emma Stirling Adjunct Senior Lecturer, Off Allied Hlth,Human Svc&Sport

Prior to joining La Trobe University Emma built a highly successful twenty year career as one of Australia’s innovative, entrepreneurial and leading Accredited Practising Dietitians in the areas of food and culinary nutrition, effective nutrition communication and mainstream plus digital media. Her professionalism, strategic insights and positive promotion of career opportunities for students are well regarded and she has won national awards and been selected to sit on advisory boards for several dietetic training institutions, the Dietitians Association of Australia (DAA), as well as a board director of Nutrition Australia.

Emma brings to La Trobe University valuable experience in the food, nutrition and health industries developing innovative nutrition projects with six figure budgets for Australian and international food and health companies, Government programs, leading NGOs and the media; designing and conducting training programs, workshops, presentations and key note addresses; in-depth knowledge and expertise of product development, food and agricultural systems, regulatory landscapes in Australia and internationally; digital and social media community platform development and analysis; plus experience in public health nutrition programs and consumer trend tracking.

Emma has a demonstrated track record in the design, development and delivery of innovative, highly rewarding subjects that provide students with experiential learning and a focus on student employability through the integration of social media, industry tools and guest experts. Her passion for food, gastronomy and nutrition, coupled with over twenty years’ industry experience allows Emma to drive high quality teaching and learning experiences across the nutrition and dietetics courses.

In research Emma brings industry experience and an up to date evaluation of changing employment patterns and trends, plus crucial insights for industry research collaboration. Her goal is to equip students with skills and knowledge for employment today, but to also help proactively design and drive totally new horizons for graduates and partnerships of tomorrow.
