Dr Freya Mathews Emeritus Professor, HUSS School Operations

Freya Mathews is an environmental philosopher whose main work to date has been in the areas of ecological metaphysics and panpsychism. Her current special interests are in ecological civilization; comparative Indigenous, Western and Chinese perspectives on environmentalism and how these perspectives may be adapted to the context of contemporary global society; panpsychism and critique of the metaphysics of modernity; rewilding and conservation ethics in the context of the Anthropocene. She is the author of several books and almost a hundred articles and essays on ecological philosophy. She also co-manages a private conservation estate. She is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of the Humanities.
