Francis obtained his general dental qualification from the University of Melbourne in 2006. He then worked for several years in a private general dental practice in Bendigo, where he also assisted in supervising the pre-clinical teaching of the first cohort of dental students at La Trobe University.
Inspired by his own experiences with braces as a young teenager and again with jaw surgery as an adolescent, he returned to the University of Melbourne to undertake specialty training in Orthodontics, which he completed in 2012. He also has a passion for teaching and his current responsibilities in the Department of Dentistry and Oral Health primarily involve the delivery of didactic lectures, seminars and practical sessions in the specialist field of Orthodontics for both dental and oral health students.
