Professor Hisham Abu-Rayya Adjunct Professor, Office Of Psychology & Public Health

Abu-Rayya is a social- cultural psychologist. His PhD degree completed at the University of Cambridge (2005) was supported by the Overseas Research Student Award (ORS) from the Committee of Vice-Chancellors and Principals of the Universities of the United Kingdom and Gates Cambridge Scholarship, the University of Cambridge, with both awards being awarded to outstanding candidates (the top 1 %). He joined the School of Psychology at La Trobe University in 2011 and now he holds an Adjunct Professorship appointment with the school.

Primary Research Interests:

Cross-cultural transitions/Acculturation, and adjustment.
Inter-group relations and prejudice reduction.
Psychology of religion/Religiosity, personality, & mental health.
Mixed-ethnic/cultural/faith marriages and adjustment.

Secondary Research Interests:

Deficient neurodevelopment, cognitive and behavioural functioning in children.
Childhood trauma exposure and cognitive functioning.
Environmental Health and biostatistics.
Statistics, methodology, and data theory.
