Dr John Hannon Lecturer, Res Education & Development, RED Unit

I am currently with RED and have an Honorary role at La Trobe as Adjunct Senior Lecturer in the School of Education. My experience over 20 years demonstrates expertise and leadership in three main areas: academic and professional development, blended and online curriculum design, and higher education teaching. A key research area is the transformative effects of the digitisation of academic work and teaching, developed from my PhD 'Reassembling Practice: A relational approach to online learning', which informs research into academic/professional development, practices with open education resources (OER), and intercultural communication. I also supervise HDR students and have taught postgraduate courses in university teaching, and digital media, and conduct workshops on educational research and the scholarship of teaching. I received an Outstanding Paper Award, Ascilite Conference 2008, Deakin University, for 'Breaking Down Online Teaching: Innovation and Resistance'. Recent grants include research into interdisciplinary teaching and curricula (from La Trobe’s Remaking Education DRP), and an OLT funded project on digital literacies in undergraduate health curriculum.
