Heng (Jason) Jiang Research Fellow - CAPR, Ctr Alcohol Policy Research (CAPR)

Dr Jiang is an outstanding early career Research Fellow at the Centre for Alcohol Policy Research (CAPR), School of Psychology and Public Health, La Trobe University. He obtained his Ph.D in Economics from Deakin University in 2013. He leads a number of ARC, NHMRC, NGOs and state governments funded research projects. He is a research group leader on Alcohol and Tobacco Taxation, Trade Agreements, Outlets, Policy Changes and Interventions in CAPR. He conducts quantitative and econometric analyses in relation to the harmful use of alcohol and other drugs, with particular research interest on estimating impacts of policy interventions on alcohol, tobacco and drug use, and related social and health issues; links between alcohol and tobacco consumption, non-communicable diseases and injuries.

Since 2011, he has published over 50 journal articles (majority of them were published as first author), 4 books or book chapters and 9 research reports in the Addiction and Public Health fields, and received a number of awards. His research on alcohol and tobacco use and related health and social issues has been published in leading health and medical, and addiction journals, such as Lancet, Lancet Global Health, BMC Medicine, JAMA Network Open and Addiction. His research has been widely reported by public and social media, appearing on television (Channel 10, SBS and Channel 7) and in print media (The Washington Post, BBC, ABC, The Telegraph, The Age, The Sydney Morning Herald, Bloomberg and etc,).

Since 2012, he has attracted $1.8 million in research grant from the ARC, NHMRC, State Governments, NGOs and industry partners or agencies (e.g., Foundation for Alcohol Research and Education, Healthway WA, Vic Health and Justice Health Victoria).
