Joshua Marmara Academic, Psychology

Joshua Marmara is employed at La Trobe University as a sessional academic with his role involving teaching within various subjects surrounding the areas of individual and social determinants of health, living with chronic conditions, rehabilitation case management, professional practice, behavioural and biological psychology, and quantitative research methods. Joshua is currently undertaking a PhD in Psychology at Victoria University with his research exploring the predictors of body appreciation and positive well-being in young adults from the perspective of positive psychology. In 2015, Joshua completed a Psychology (Honours) degree conducting research on the moderating roles of relationship status and sexual agreement types on gay men's body image dissatisfaction and mental health. It was through undertaking this research where Joshua’s interests for body image, physical activity, and well-being began to emerge and develop into a passion.
