Dr Kyle Slade Academic, Crime,Justice & Legal Studies

Kyle explores how people encounter, interact with, and navigate risks in late-modernity. His research interests include understanding how social, physical and expert contexts influence behavioural responses to risk, and how individuals construct and protect a sense of ontological security, granting them a feeling of continuity and predictability in the everyday world and allowing them to compartmentalise chaotic and uncertain forces.

Students in Kyle's subjects are encouraged to think critically about how the structures of late-modernity shape the choices of individuals, governments, businesses and organisations.
