Kay Bonello, is a Lecturer in the School of Psychology and Public Health, Discipline of Health Information Management at La Trobe University. She teaches undergraduate and postgraduate subjects, specialising in Health Classification and Health Information Management subjects
Kay is the Australian Private Hospitals Association(APHA) representative member of the Independent Hospital Pricing Authority(IHPA), International Classification of Diseases Technical Group(ITG). This group informs IHPA in relation to the development and refinements to the current classification system with wide consultation to the clinical coders in the private hospital environment.
After completing the qualification in Medical Record Administration( earlier title of the discipline of Health Information Management), Kay worked as the Chief Medical Record Administrator in major public hospitals in Melbourne with her later career in the private hospital sector. As well as these roles, Kay was Chairperson of the Health Information Management of Australia(HIMAA) Editorial Board for the Health Information Management Journal(HIMJ) /Health Information Management Interchange(HIM-I) from 2005-2017.
