Kristian Haggblom Academic, English

Kristian Haggblom completed his PhD through Monash University, Viewing Platforms, photographically investigated remote Australian tourist locations and the performative relationships played out amongst these vast and culturally weighted places. In 2010 he was the inaugural artist-in-residence at the Australia Council for the Arts Finland studio. Presently he lectures in the Photography degree and also initiates curatorial projects through Wallflower Photomedia Gallery. He has exhibited internationally and given conference papers on expanded modes of documentary making, suicide landscapes and contemporary Australian photomedia. In 2014 he presented at the 3rd International Conference on Photography and Theory in Cyprus. Presently Haggblom is researching the role of photography in surveillance and how this is subverted and exploited for political and artistic outcomes and working on his first photobook publication.
