Kangwei XUN Graduate Researcher, Social Work & Social Policy

Kangwei Xun is a PhD student in social work discipline, and Living with Disability Research Centre, La Trobe University at Melbourne. Before he enrolled in La Trobe University, Kangwei obtained a Bachelor of Law in Social Work in 2010 from Yangzhou University, China, a Master of Social Science in Social Work at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) in 2012 and a Master of Philosophy in Social Work and Social Administration at The University of Hong Kong in 2017. Between 2012 and 2016, Kangwei worked as a social worker in disability services in Hong Kong. He was in charge of Work Extension Programme for older people with intellectual disability. From 2016 to 2019, Kangwei was employed by a Hong Kong NGO and worked in Qinghai province, mainland China as a programme manager to assist the development of local children’s home and children welfare system. Kangwei is the Registered Social Worker in Hong Kong.

Kangwei’s research in M.Phil period focused on social work case management in services for adults with intellectual disability in Hong Kong. In PhD period, his research area is about older people with intellectual disability and their family members. Kangwei is currently under the supervision of Professor Christine Bigby and Dr. Tal Araten-Bergman.
