Dr. Hui (Lydia) Cui jointed La Trobe University as a Lecturer at the Department of Comp Sci & Info Tech in March 2019. Before that, she was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Biomedical & Multimedia Information Technology (BMIT) Research Group, The University of Sydney (2016 - 2018). Dr. Cui graduated with Ph.D. and MPhil degrees in Computer Science from The University of Sydney in 2016 and 2013, under the supervision of Prof David Dagan Feng, A/Prof Xiuying Wang and Clinical Professor Michael Fulham.
Her research area is in the interdisciplinary field of Machine Learning, Image Processing, Medical Image Analysis, and Health Informatics. Research topics include machine learning for multi-modality medical image segmentation and classification (e.g. CT, PET, PET-CT, etc), graph theory and topology for image processing and analytics, medical computer vision for precision oncology, and data-driven models for early diagnosis and prognosis of disease and cancer, etc. Her publications include papers in MICCAI, IEEE Trans. Fuzzy System, International Journal of Neural Systems, Journal of Nuclear Medicine, Briefings in Bioinformatics, BMC Bioinformatics, etc.
Dr. Cui received a list of international research awards including
-Best Research Presentation Award at Shanghai Jiao Tong University - University of Sydney Research Conversazione 2018
-International Best Abstract Award for Australia at the 2015 Annual Conference of Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI)
-Chinese government award for outstanding students abroad (2015) by the China scholarship council.
