Dr. Hui (Lydia) Cui is a Lecturer at the Department of Comp Sci & Info Tech. She graduated with Ph.D. and MPhil degrees in computer science from The University of Sydney in 2016 and 2013, respectively. She was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Biomedical & Multimedia Information Technology (BMIT) Research Group, The University of Sydney (2016 - 2018) before joining La Trobe University. Her research interests are in the interdisciplinary field of medical image analysis and artificial intelligence. She has been dedicated to research topics including medical image segmentation and classification (e.g. CT, PET, PET-CT, etc), graph theory and topology for image processing and analytics, data-driven models for early diagnosis and prognosis of disease and cancer, etc.
Dr. Cui received a list of international research awards, including the International Best Abstract Award for Australia at the 2015 Annual Conference of Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI). She was the recipient of the Chinese government award for outstanding students abroad (2015) by the China scholarship council.
