Dr. Hui (Lydia) Cui is a Lecturer at the Department of Comp Sci & Info Tech. Before joining La Trobe University in 2019, she was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Biomedical & Multimedia Information Technology (BMIT) Research Group, The University of Sydney between 2016 and 2018. Dr. Cui graduated with Ph.D. and MPhil degrees in Computer Science from The University of Sydney in 2016 and 2013, under the supervision of Professor David Dagan Feng, A/Prof Xiuying Wang, and Clinical Professor Michael Fulham.
Her research interests are in the interdisciplinary field of artificial intelligence, image processing, and health informatics. She has been dedicated to research topics including machine learning for multi-modality medical image segmentation and classification (e.g. CT, PET, PET-CT, etc), graph theory and topology for image processing and analytics, medical computer vision for precision oncology, and data-driven models for early diagnosis and prognosis of disease and cancer, etc.
Dr. Cui received a list of international research awards including

-International Best Abstract Award for Australia at the 2015 Annual Conference of Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI)
-Chinese government award for outstanding students abroad (2015) by the China scholarship council.
