Lael has many years' experience working in various fields of nursing and midwifery, including as a private consultant. She has postgraduate qualifications as a Midwife, Maternal and Child Health Nurse, Lactation Consultant and higher education. She has been employed in both undergraduate and postgraduate nursing education since 2003 and currently coordinates the Child Family and Community Nursing specialty course at La Trobe University.
Lael has contributed to many aspects of practice and policy development in Maternal and Child Health nursing and has clinical practice experience as a Maternal and Child Health nurse in Victoria and the Northern Territory. She has worked in partnership with senior researchers in the Olga Tennison Autism Research Centre, Judith Lumley Centre, University of North Texas and other areas of the USA.
Her key areas of interest are in early childhood health and developmental surveillance, education, primary health care of families and improving practice through the use of information and communication technology.
