Dr Michelle Fitts Research Officer, Ctr Alcohol Policy Research (CAPR)

Michelle Fitts has a diverse research background within public health, psychology and disability. Her multiple areas of research interest – alcohol, road safety, violence and traumatic brain injury in Indigenous Australian communities are drawn together through the theme of injury prevention.

Michelle’s CV also describes a background in applied community development and advocacy. This experience underpins her commitment to making positive changes at the population level. She has led the development of creative art-based resources for communities related to drink driving and transition experiences following brain injury.

Her work has been recognised with a number of awards including the prestigious Peter Vulcan award and Australian Institute of Criminology award.
