Merilyn Riley Lecturer, Health Information Management, Health Info Mgt

I worked at the Deparment of Health for over 20 years. I was employed by the Victorian Perinatal Data Collection Unit throughout this entire period with a varying range of roles from Health Information Manager, Senior Health Information Manager and Senior Research Officer. I have been involved in many areas of data maganagement but was especially involved in the management and research of the Victorian Birth Defects Register. I have been involved in many research projects utilising population-based data from these two datasets. I was responsible for the regular and ad-hoc research requests, data integrity, database management, liaison with relevant stake holders at State, National and International levels as well as the development and publication of regular reports. I was also involved across a number of departmental projects involved with the cluster analysis of birth defects surrounding potential hazard waste sites.

My work at La Trobe University involves many hats - Course Co-ordinator, Professional Practice Co-ordinator and Lecturer.I am passionate about producing highly skilled health information managment professionals and seek to instill an ethos of exellence in all of our graduates.
