Associate Professor Melanie Bish Ass. Prof, Rural Nursing and Midwifery, Nursing LTRHS

Associate Professor Melanie Bish is the Head of the Rural Department of Nursing and Midwifery, La Trobe Rural Health School which extends across four rural campuses of La University located in Albury-Wodonga, Bendigo, Mildura and Shepparton. Melanie has held senior management positions and worked in a variety clinical roles in rural, regional and metropolitan Victorian healthcare organisations to inform her work as a nursing academic. Since completing her PhD(Nursing) focused on fostering rural nurse leadership, Melanie’s research interests have expanded to global mobilisation of the health workforce, cultural sensitivity in teaching and research, grit and resilience in health graduates, nurse burnout, maternity care and has a preference for multi method approaches. Melanie is passionate about the future of healthcare in rural and regional Australia and enjoys teaching into undergraduate, international and post graduate nursing programs with specific interests in workplace culture, corporate and clinical leadership and change management. Motivated to approach her work guided by the values of caring, curiosity and authenticity, Melanie is committed to actively contribute to the development of the rural and regional healthcare workforce.
