Professor Noel Gough Emeritus Professor, Emeritus

Noel Gough was appointed as Foundation Professor of Outdoor and Environmental Education in 2006, and has since served as the first Director of the Centre for Excellence in Outdoor and Environmental Education (2007-8), and as the Faculty of Education's Associate Dean Academic (2009-10), Director, Curriculum Development and Innovation (2010-11) and Acting Associate Dean Research (July-December 2012). On 14 June 2017, Academic Board resolved to confirm him with the title of Emeritus Professor in recognition of the distinguished contribution he made to the University.

Previously he held senior academic appointments at the University of Canberra and Deakin University, and has also held visiting fellowships at universities in Canada, China, South Africa, and the UK. His teaching, scholarship and publications focus on educational philosophy and theory, research methodology, and curriculum inquiry, with particular reference to environmental education, science education, internationalisation and globalisation.

He is the author or editor of five books and has published more than 120 book chapters and articles in peer-reviewed journals.

Noel retired from La Trobe University on 8 July 2014, but continues to be affiliated with the University as Professor Emeritus in the School of Education.
