Oliver is an early-career researcher specialising in epidemiology, quantitative analysis, and data management.

Oliver's main research interests include:
- Characterizing nightlife and drinking occasions
- New predictors of nightlife drinking
- Alcohol's harms to others
- Trends in alcohol consumption
- Alcohol cultures, gender and alcohol

Oliver is an active member of the Core group for the Gender, Alcohol and Harms to Others (GENAHTO) project, the Kettil Bruun Society for Social and Epidemiological Research on Alcohol, and the International Group for the Study of Alcohol’s Harms to Others (IGSAHO).
