Oz Susler Lecturer, Law Melbourne

Ozlem Susler researches and teaches in the area of international commercial arbitration. Her doctoral thesis related to the approach of national courts to the jurisdiction of the arbitrators. Dr Susler's current research examines investor state dispute resolution in investment arbitration and the need for reform. Ozlem comes from private practice in commercial law and is the coordinator of Contract Law in the JD and LLB Programs at La Trobe.She also teaches International Commercial Arbitration in the LLM Program.

In 2004, she was successfully awarded the Diploma in International Commercial Arbitration from the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (London). She also graduated with the L.L.M. in Global Business Law from La Trobe University with high distinction and has been admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor to the Supreme Court of Victoria.

This was followed by practice as a solicitor in commercial law which included advising on contractual disputes, civil litigation and other commercial law matters. Dr Susler is the founding member for the LTU law students' participation in the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot Competition. In addition she coached the student teams for the first few years that followed. Ozlem continues her involvement in mooting and still participates in judging activities for the Vis East Moot.
