Pete Sanders is a lecturer in Education courses at the Melbourne (Bundoora) campus of La Trobe University. He is coordinator of a range of primary mathematics education subjects in undergraduate and postgraduate courses. He coordinates the MTeach (Primary) subject, Primary Maths/Numeracy. He also coordinates a suite of subjects within the BTeach (Primary) program namely, Teaching Number and Algebra, Strands of Mathematics and Developing Mathematical Thinking. Pete has been a primary teacher for nearly 20 years both here in Australia and in the United Kingdom. He uses this experience of primary school teaching within a range of subjects in the BTeach program including Personalised and Active Learning and Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting. Pete is currently writing his PhD, the impact of mathematics competency procedures on the development of post-graduate pre-service teachers' primary mathematics teaching. Other research interests include Lesson Study and teacher professional learning.
