50+ in Darebin: A data story. Report for Darebin Agencies. Part 1: Health and wellbeing Report uri icon

abstract

  • Although Darebin’s population is not ageing (in terms of the proportion of citizens aged 65 years and over), service providers can expect increases in demand for health services associated with an increasing number of older people, including dementia. Particular attention needs to be paid locally to people aged 50 years and over with osteoporosis. Key local risk factors include smoking, lack of physical activity, and low rates of volunteering. As elsewhere in Victoria, obesity and low vegetable consumption are significant health risk factors.
