  • Field desorption mass spectrometry has been used to characterize the title complexes. The mass spectra indicate the presence of 'cluster ions' involving the macrocyclic cation hydrogen-bonded to perchlorate and water, and the absence of fragment ions of both the cationic and anionic species. The unique features of this investigation are the simplicity of the mass spectra and the ease of analysis of perchlorate compounds.
