Choice as an intervention to promote well-being: the role of the nurse prescriber Academic Article uri icon

abstract

  • Case studies are a popular way to explore clinical experiences that occur with patients and nursing staff. We describe a case study with a patient diagnosed with schizophrenia and who required pharmacological interventions to bring about mental health well-being. The role of the nurse prescriber is discussed alongside the process of engendering choice within the prescribing encounter. This paper discusses the process of switching medication to one chosen by the patient.
